Experimental Filmmaking Deep dive
8-session workshop (bi-weekly Jan. 28 - May 5)
15 spots available.
In this 8-session workshop over 4 months, participants will explore and practice experimental filmmaking strategies as a way to self-reflect and connect. You will learn technical aspects of making a film including scripting, shooting, and editing. And also, we will reframe each phase to embrace magic, ritual, expression, experimentation, and self-discovery. Over our time together, you may develop a project. Or make a film. Or uncover a truth. Or play. This is a deep dive – an in-depth offering with abundant resources, prompts, and opportunities. We will go on this journey together and build creative community with one another along the way.
No film experience required.
What to expect:
Each meeting will include a demo/tutorial of a filmmaking technique, strategy, or tool, practice time, prompts for reframing and reflection, and space for sharing and connecting.
In between meetings, creative prompts, resources, and accountability support will be offered.
At the end of our time together, we will gather for a mini film festival to share our films and experiences.
Your project may be a video poem, a collage film, a personal essay, an object study, a mini documentary or fiction, a meditation, or something else entirely. This is for you if you want to go on the journey of making a film, with your own exploration and transformation at the center of your process.
